SECTION A
CHALLENGE CLASSES

Only one entry per exhibitor per class.

CLASS 1   Limited to members of the Jacksonville Rose Society.

          Two one-bloom-per-stem Hybrid Teas or Grandifloras, the same
          variety without side buds, at exhibition stage, in separate
          containers with individual entry tags. (Matched Pair)
          THE MARIAN HOUSE FAULK AWARD

CLASS 2   Limited to members of the Jacksonville Rose Society.

          Two one-bloom-per-stem Miniatures, the same variety without
          side buds, at exhibition stage, in separate containers with
          individual entry tags. (Matched Pair)
          THE MARGARET W. WOOLVERTON AWARD

CLASS 3   Five one-bloom-per-stem Hybrid Teas, the same or different
          varieties without side buds, at exhibition stage, in 
          separate containers with individual entry tags.  (Matched Pair)
          THE ANDY AND MARY LEE AWARD

CLASS 4   Hi-Lo:  One Hybrid Tea, Grandiflora or Floribunda, 
           one-bloom-per-stem without side buds, at exhibition stage, one 
           matching Miniature, one-bloom-per-stem without side buds, at
           exhibition stage.  Each exhibited in a separate container with 
           individual entry tags.  Entries will be judged according to the
           most perfect phase of beauty for each specimen and matching
           of color and form.  AWARD


SECTION B
HYBRID TEAS, GRANDIFLORAS AND CLIMBING SPORTS OF THESE TYPES

CLASS 5   One specimen, one-bloom-per-stem, exhibition stage, with
            no side buds.  Entries in this class will be staged 
            alphabetically by variety name.  Queen, King, Princess, and
            Three Court of Honor will be selected from this class and/or
            class 22.
 
   Queen of Show - THE TAYLOR JONES AWARD
   King of Show - THE MARGARET AND JOHN ZIMMERLE AWARD
   Princess of Show - AWARD in memory of JACOB F. BRYAN III
   The Royal Court - the next three best roses.  AWARDS

CLASS 6   Single-type Hybrid Tea, five to twelve petals, naturally
           grown.  AWARD

CLASS 7   Fully-open Hybrid Tea-Grandiflora-Climbing Sport;
          without side buds.  Stamens must show.  AWARD

CLASS 8   Cycle of Bloom. Hybrid Teas-Grandifloras-Climbing Sports;
          Three specimens, same variety, one specimen at bud stage, 
          one specimen at exhibition stage (1/2 to 3/4 open), one 
          specimen fully-open (stamens must show), in one container,
          one entry tag. AWARD

CLASS 9   English Box Exhibit.  Six specimens of Hybrid Teas or
          Climbing Sports or Grandifloras at exhibition stage.  At least
          three different varieties.  No foliage. List variety names on
          reverse side of entry tag.  One entry per exhibitor. AWARD

CLASS 10   Bowl Exhibit.  One Hybrid Tea-Grandiflora-Climbing Sport
          to shown at exhibition stage.  No foliage is permitted.  Staged
          in a bowl and floated on water.  One entry per exhibitor.   
          AWARD

CLASS 11  Collection ofThree, same variety of Hybrid Teas-Climbing
           Sport-Grandifloras shown at exhibition stage in one 
           container with one entry tag.  AWARD

CLASS 12  Collection of Three, different varieties of Hybrid Teas-
           Grandifloras-Climbing Sports shown at exhibition stage in 
           one container with one entry tag.  AWARD

SECTION C
FLORIBUNDAS AND POLYANTHAS

CLASS 13  One one-bloom-per-stem Floribunda specimen at exhibition 
          stage per variety, without side buds. AWARD

CLASS 14  Floribunda or Polyantha Spray, two or more blooms, buds 
          permitted. AWARD

CLASS 15  Painter's Palette.  Five Floribunda specimens at exhibition
          stage for each variety, same or different varieties.  No
          foliage permitted.  One entry per exhibitor. AWARD


SECTION D
CLIMBERS

CLASS 16  One specimen, may have more than one bloom, side buds 
          permitted. AWARD


SECTION E
OLD GARDEN ROSES

As many entries as desired may be entered as long as they are of
different varieties.  May have more than one bloom, buds permitted.

CLASS 17  The ARS Dowager Queen Certificate will be presented to
          the best blue ribbon entry of varieties known to have been in
          existence before 1867. AWARD

CLASS 18  The ARS Victorian Certificate will be presented to the best
          blue ribbon entry of varieties introduced in 1867 or later,
          and those with unknown dates.  AWARD

CLASS 19  Collection: Old Garden Roses and/or Shrubs.  Three or
          more different varieties in one container.  Oasis permitted,
          (container provided, first come, first served basis) with one 
          entry tag.  AWARD


SECTION F
SHRUBS

CLASS 20  Classic  Shrub Rose.  An entry of any shrub, one or more
         blooms, with a family name as classified in the ARS Handbook
         for Selecting Roses or other ARS publication.  ARS Certificate.
         AWARD

CLASS 21  Modern Shrub Rose.  An entry of any shrub, one or more
         blooms, with the classification of shrub in the ARS Handbook for 
         Selecting Roses or other ARS publication.  ARS Certificate.
         AWARD

SECTION G
NOVICE

This section is open to those who have never won a blue ribbon in an 
ARS rose show.  More than one entry in a class permitted, but no 
duplication of varieties.  Novices may compete in other sections of 
the schedule.  ELIGIBLE FOR QUEEN OF SHOW.

CLASS 22  One Hybrid Tea-Grandiflora-Climbing Sport at exhibition 
          stage.  AWARD

CLASS 23  One one-bloom-per-stem Miniature at exhibition stage.
          AWARD


SECTION H
JUDGES

 Open only to judges working the show.  The judging will be done
 by ARS judges of the Deep South District.  More than one entry
 permitted, but no duplication of varieties.

CLASS 24  One specimen, one-bloom-per-stem or multiple bloom, any
          type or variety.  AWARD


SECTION I
MINIATURES

CLASS 25  One specimen one-bloom-per-stem at exhibition stage,
          with no side buds.  Entries in this class will be staged
          alphabetically by variety name.  Queen, King, Princess, and
          Three Court of Honor will be selected from this class and/or
          23.  AWARDS

CLASS 26  Miniature Spray: one stem with two or more blooms.
          AWARD

CLASS 27  Single type miniature, one-bloom-per-stem, five - twelve 
          petals.  AWARD

CLASS 28  One fully-open specimen with one-bloom-per-stem, no side
          buds with stamens showing.  Removal of petaloids permitted.
          No single type permitted.  AWARD

CLASS 29  English Box: Six specimens at exhibition stage, no foliage,
          three different varieties.  One entry per exhibitor.  AWARD

CLASS 30  Bowl Exhibit: One specimen shown at exhibition stage, no 
          foliage permitted.  Floated in a miniature champagne glass.
          One entry per exhibitor.  AWARD

CLASS 31  Painter's Palette: Five specimens at exhibition stage, each
          a different variety.  No foliage.  One entry per exhibitor.
          AWARD

CLASS 32  Cycle of Bloom.  Three specimens, same variety, one
         specimen at bud stage, one specimen at exhibition stage (1/2 to
         3/4) open, one specimen fully open (stamens must show), in
         one container.  AWARD

CLASS 33  Collection: Three specimens, exhibition stage, same
         variety in one container. AWARD

CLASS 34  Collection: Three specimens, exhibition stage, different
          varieties in one container.  AWARD
